PAID proudly announces its participation in a about 16-member international consortium under the Horizon Europe grant submission programme, advancing community-based disaster preparedness and resilience through innovation, inclusion, and ethical collaboration.

The Pan African Institute for Development (PAID) has officially joined the Community-Based Disaster Preparedness and Risk Awareness Initiative (HORIZON-CL3-2025-01-DRS-02)—a flagship European Union-funded project aimed at building disaster-resilient societies across continents.

This ambitious initiative unites 16 institutions from Europe and Africa, including research centers, local governments, NGOs, and universities. The project focuses on developing innovative and inclusive tools for disaster preparedness, integrating behavioral, ethical, and environmental dimensions into safety protocols, and strengthening institutional capacities through participatory training and policy engagement.

Representing Africa in this global effort, PAID will coordinate regional cohorts, support evaluation and invigilation activities, and facilitate consultative collaboration with African disaster management stakeholders, including National Disaster Management Agencies (NDMAs) and National Centres for Climate Risk Management (NCCRMs).

This partnership reaffirms our commitment to people-centered and sustainable development,” stated Dr Franklin Babila Doh, Regional Director of PAID–ESA and Program Coordinator of this project for PAID. “As part of the global PAID network, we take pride in ensuring that communities, especially the most vulnerable, remain at the heart of resilience strategies. Let our community keep their faith unshakeable, as progress emerges through collective effort.”

The Horizon Europe DRS-02 consortium, coordinated by Edukons University (Serbia), includes partners such as Center for Security Studies (Greece), Center for Social Innovation (Cyprus), Fundación Red Deporte y Cooperación (Spain), Prepared International UG (Germany), and the Hungarian Blind Association (Hungary)—all contributing to a multidisciplinary approach toward a safer, more resilient world.
