Call for experts

Put your expertise where the work is

PAID-ESA appoints lecturers, commissions research and builds consultancy teams across East and Southern Africa. Partners come to us looking for a specialist in a particular field — or a particular country. One record puts you in front of all of it.

Register your expertiseFive minutes. No account, no fee.

One record. Seven kinds of work.

Register once and you are considered for each of these. You choose which ones you want to hear about — we only make contact about what you select.

  • Lecturing
  • Consultancy
  • Research
  • Student supervision
  • Training and workshops
  • Curriculum development
  • External examining

Students in Khartoum, Maputo and Antananarivo should be taught by people who know those places — not only the subject.

Your nationality and your fieldwork are qualifications

Most registers keep one country per person and lose everything else. This one keeps three: your nationality, where you are based, and every country you have actually delivered work in.

So when a ministry asks for someone who has worked in Madagascar, or a cohort needs a lecturer from Sudan, yours is the name that comes up.

Your working languages are recorded the same way, with your level in each, and weigh alongside your expertise when an assignment is matched.

Who we are looking for

What you can deliver counts for more than your title. If you are unsure whether your background fits, register — the roster is searched by expertise, not by job title.

  • Professors, lecturers and researchers, in post or emeritus
  • Independent consultants and advisers
  • Practitioners in ministries, agencies and regional bodies
  • Development and humanitarian professionals
  • Specialists working in the private sector
  • PAID-ESA alumni and serving staff

Frequently asked questions

Is this paid work?

Assignments are agreed individually — terms depend on the engagement, the funder and the scope, and are discussed when we approach you. Registering itself costs nothing and commits you to nothing.

Will I be contacted?

Not necessarily. The register is searched when a specific need comes up, so it depends on whether your expertise, languages and country experience match what is being asked for. Some people will hear from us often, others rarely.

Do I need to be an academic?

No. A good share of the people we need are practitioners rather than academics. Where a specific qualification is required, that forms part of the conversation about the assignment.

Who can register?

Anyone with professional expertise relevant to development, public administration, research or higher education. There is no restriction on nationality or country of residence, and you do not need an existing connection to PAID-ESA.

What happens to my information?

It is held by PAID-ESA and used to identify people for teaching, research and consultancy assignments. The register is not public and is not shared as a directory; when a partner asks about a specific need, we approach you first.

Can I update or remove my record later?

Yes. Confirming your email gives you a private link to your own record, which you can use to update your details or ask for the record to be removed. Removal takes effect immediately.

Five minutes now. Considered for years.

No fee, no commitment. A member of staff reads every registration, your details are never published, and you can update or withdraw them yourself at any time.
