
The Pan African Institute for Development – Eastern and Southern Africa (PAID–ESA) will join the global community in celebrating World GIS Day 2025 on 17 November 2025 (10:00–11:30 AM WAT) through a dynamic virtual event themed “Geo-Generalist Era: Where Spatial Meets Everything.”
The event will feature distinguished speakers, including:
- Prof. Jayanta Das (India) – Professor of Geography at Rampurhat College, GIS and Remote Sensing Expert.
- Nancy Muthoni (Kenya) – Director and Co-founder of Survey-Mi Ltd, Licensed Drone Pilot and Land Surveyor.
- Yashraj Jain (India) – Senior Executive Geospatial Analyst at Techno Essence Solutions, India.
- Nkemndem Agendia (Cameroon) – Lecturer at PAID–ESA, Specialist in GIS, Natural Resource Management, and Climate Change.
Moderated by PAID–ESA’s academic team, the session will explore how geospatial science connects people, data, and innovation to drive solutions for sustainable development, disaster risk reduction, and environmental resilience.
World GIS Day is a global event celebrated across more than 100 countries, coordinated in partnership with institutions such as ESRI, the United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM), and the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS). PAID–ESA’s participation reaffirms its role as a regional hub for spatial innovation and applied research.
